“Lot 155: Pahlmeyer & Peg Leg Porker, Dinner Party for 25 in the Pig Pen” and “Sewanee Saturday Matinée, Lunch on the Mountain for 11 Couples”

One of my main responsibilities during my internship with the nonprofit Nashville Wine Auction was writing descriptions for the live and silent auction lots featured in “L’Été du Vin”, the organization’s largest annual fundraising event. The catalog, published two weeks before the silent auction opened and three weeks before the live auction, required compelling and informative copy that captured readers’ attention while highlighting the exclusivity of each lot.

One standout piece for print, “Pahlmeyer & Peg Leg Porker”, written near the catalog’s deadline, best demonstrates my ability to engage and excite readers through persuasive storytelling. “Sewanee Saturday Matinée” is another one of my favorite pieces from the catalog, also featured in the digital version on the Nashville Wine Auction website. This piece highlights my ability to use a content management system (WordPress) to adapt print materials for digital marketing and online engagement, including editing images using Adobe Photoshop and formatting the images and copy for readability.

By the catalog’s publication, I had written 48 auction lot descriptions, honing my ability to market experiences to an audience deeply knowledgeable about wine and eager to donate $10,000+ for exceptional opportunities.

“The Pawportunity for Love: PR Campaign for Pawsitive Rescue Division”

Pawsitive Rescue Division is a nonprofit organization based in Connecticut and Middle Tennessee with a mission to rescue dogs and rehabilitate them through medical attention and training to increase their odds for adoption. My team, KEERA PR Initiatives, created a PR Campaign for them that aimed to improve their social media engagement, improve the website’s user experience and SEO, expand their fundraising efforts in Middle Tennessee and increase the number of attendees at their events.

For my particular role, I was responsible for the second objective of auditing the website. I utilized Google Analytics to track engagement and benchmark against fellow animal rescue divisions. From there, I created a list of unique metal titles and descriptions that could improve the website’s SEO. I also suggested adding a blog so donors could hear stories about where their money and support is going to and created a few general blog posts to help them get started.

This campaign improved my ability to align a digital strategy with organizational objectives, utilize Google Analytics to interpret engagement metrics for measurable growth and communicate with clients through understanding their expectations and proposing ideas professionally. I presented the campaign during the Public Relations Campaigns Panel at Belmont University’s inaugural SPARK Symposium in April 2024.

Featured Vintner Descriptions

In addition to writing the auction lot descriptions for Nashville Wine Auction’s “L’Été du Vin” catalog, I created supplementary materials designed to help stakeholders and potential donors understand what to expect and feel emotionally connected to the event. One example of this was writing the featured vintner descriptions, which introduced some of the wineries participating in the reception and had contributed lots to the auction.

This project required extensive research and direct communication with each vintner to capture their values and story. Through this process, I strengthened my ability to craft authentic, brand-aligned storytelling that deepens audience engagement and builds excitement leading up to an event.

Belmont Symposium’s Fact Sheet

As one of the first board members for Belmont Symposium, a club dedicated to fostering a forum for students to engage in philosophical discussion beyond the classroom, I recognized the need for clear, engaging communication to grow awareness and membership on campus.

To support this goal, I created a fact sheet that clearly outlined the club’s mission, vision and meeting details. Because the name “Belmont Symposium” alone does not convey the purpose of the club, the fact sheet serves as a way to clarify the club’s objectives and encourage student participation.

Creating the fact sheet taught me to recognize when there are gaps of information in the public’s understanding of an organization and how to address it using concise language and organized, informational materials.
